Dough Restaurant Review

Overall:  4/5
Dough Restaurant in the Northern Quarter of Manchester City Centre.

It is exactly what the name suggests; an Italian themed restaurant, featuring a large variety of pizzas, from Moroccan to Wasabi Prawns to Ham and Eggs.

There is definitely a pizza here for every taste.
Whats more, theres a large variety for both vegetarians and meat eaters, which is nice to see.

The interior is modern, clean and features an open plan kitchen area, however this is out of view to some tables which is unfortunate.

Starter: Dough to Dip
I went with a group of 4, later 5 of us and to start we ordered the "Dough to Dip". This came with 8 dough sticks and 5 sauces. Pesto, Hummus, Garlic Butter, Sweet Chilli and Olive Oil with Balsamic Vinegar. These seemed home-made which was a pleasant surprise. For £6.15 it was also a great price allowing   two sticks for each person; a great portion.   One point mentioned though was the need for bait more salt in the dough sticks.

Paella Pizza
Paella Pizza... not something you see on a menu everyday and I have to admit, yes I did imagine the whole paella rice on top of a dough base ... looking back I think that would have been going a bit far. Maybe one day! Either way, this pizza with tiger prawns, squid, black olives, peas and mozzarella was very tasty. It looked fresh and simple but packed full of flavour!

Steak Gnocchi

I decided to be different and order the Steak Gnocchi (knowing I would get some paella pizza of course). I have never had Gnocchi with steak before and wanted to see if this combo would work. First warning... let it cool, mine came out sizzling hot and I of course burnt my mouth, not being patient. My verdict is that it does work, however its quite heavy going.

Smoked Chicken Pizza

Now, I never tried this one, however the taste tester did love it. She shared half for half a duck and brie (after much consideration) and I think may have regretted it as she preferred the smoked chicken. This is a nice variety to normal chicken pizzas on offer.

Goats Cheese Pizza

Duck and Brie Pizza
The Goats cheese pizza, used a small number of good quality fresh ingredients to keep it simple but delicious. However, don't do the mistake that the person ordering this one did, and have it if you don't like tomatoes as it comes with a nice helping of fresh tomatoes on top.
A great choice for those looking for a uncomplicated classic pizza. Its cheese and tomato at its best.

The Duck and Brie pizza is a great combination and was preferred by its chooser, over the smoked chicken. The added extra of pear... yes thats right, pear on a pizza, made it that bit more special. All in all a great combination of flavours.

The service was great, ticking every box, asking to try the wine, helping to choose a meal option and ensuring all the mains were brought out at the same time (after one diner ordered later) and checking how we were doing. We didn't feel rushed through nor hounded.

Overall, this Italian is a chic, contemporary restaurant, that is great value for money and fits into its location in the Northern quarter well. Definitely recommended for a good pizza and meal out with friends.
